See what your site looks like on the iPad

Are you a website owner? Want to find out how your site looks on the iPad? With over 600,000+ potential browsers, you now have to ensure that your site is up to par with the latest technology and viewing gadgets such as the iPad. The guys at iPad Geek have developed a little portal which allows you to view your website through the eyes of an iPad user. Like many of these testbed sites, it doesn’t do a perfect job, but it gives you a decent idea of how it looks.

Some tips to get it looking a bit more like it should, disable Flash (since the iPad doesn’t support it) and if you’re in Firefox, you need to get under the hood a bit. In your address bar, type “about:config” and then when you get the big list of configuration options, right click anywhere and click New > String and type “general.useragent.override” as the name and “Mozilla/5.0 (iPad; U; CPU OS 3_2 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/531.21.10 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.4 Mobile/7B334b Safari/531.21.10″ as the config option. Another good tip would be to try the site in Safari and pretend the Flash objects on your page are not there.
