Microsoft holding off on making Office suite for iPad

Microsoft has announced that they will not be making a mobile version of their Office suite for the iPad anytime soon. According to the president of Microsoft’s Business division, Stephen Elop, other competitors like Google don’t have iPad formatted alternatives in the works either, so they are not too worried. As a result, Microsoft is taking a “wait and see” approach to get a better perspective of the iPad market and customize their software to better suit the Apple tablet users.
The full scale PC version of Office 2010 goes on sale on May 12th 2010, with slight competition from many other developers including Google and the makers of Open Office. There will also be introducing a very basic version of their Word and Excel programs online at no cost (free access).
