Tired of growing tomatoes and lettuce in Farmville, then maybe it’s time to upgrade to the real stuff in a new Facebook game called Weeds Social Club. The game came out just in time for the launch of yet another series of Weeds on Showtime.

The game was developed by Ecko Code, the social gaming development unit of the popular Marc Ecko fashion brand, and will take users into the home of the Botwin family. Their objective, just like on the show, is to grow and sell enough marijuana to pay their household bills. Not much details are given about the growing process but you do get a chance to see the weed grow from start to finish in animated steps like on Farmville. There are a variety of ganja seeds to choose from, such as “Jamaican Ganja” or “Schwag Weed.” Once users grow their crop, they place it on the market for sale at their own preferred prices.

In game smokers can purchase accessories such as bongs, flat screen televisions and other cool items. They’ve also included tips on how to be a successful drug-dealer, in-game at least. For now the game is still in its beta stages but will go public in August, so for those of you wishing to get your virtual high, you’ll have just about a month to wait. It is clear that Facebook has approved the game, and that it does not break any of the terms of usage. It seems that this is only the start in a series of movie related social games where film makers are going beyond the usual sales of trinkets such as clothes, shoes and scents, to appeal to a wider category of people.
