If you have a Windows 64 bit system (XP, Vista or 7) and updated your 2009 or 2010 version of BitDefender, you may have gotten a lot of warning messages saying your BitDefender module is infected by the Trojan.FakeAlert.5 virus. Turns out there was a problem with the latest update making those warnings false positives. On the negative side though, many reported being unable to restart their systems and had problems running other applications.

The BitDefender team is now aware of the situation and have issued instructions on how to get your system back in order. If you have been affected, please visit this page for details.
