It has been reported that the Apple iPad may be at threat from Backdoor Malware. Sabina Datcu from BitDefender stated that users receive the bogus email urging them to keep their iTunes software up-to-date. The e-mail links to a fake website which looks exactly like Apple’s download page with a direct link to the infected software. There are even detailed instructions on how to install it.

Once you plug in your iPad after, the Backdoor.Bifrose.AADY malware then passes onto the iPad and opens up backdoors to allow for unauthorized access. Also is reads and sends private data such as software keys and passwords associated with email, IM and storage accounts.

The malware only works via PCs, so Macs are safe thus far.
